Meh. So one criminal got a little taste of freedom. Sometimes compassion (even when it isn't meant) can be a good form of rehabilitation.

Another false headline from CNN. The sheriff did NOT golf with the inmate. The headline on the front page is misleading, as usual. The truth is bad enough without lies, distortion and misrepresentation by the "press".

Perhaps the prisoner can take him back to prison for abuse of power.

So what. The guy was still in custody. The prision system has trustees doing work all the time, in places they could just walk away. Hence the name "trustee."

Who cares how much power they have it's his choice on how he uses or abuses it and he probably gained a lower handicap

My lord, who cares? Prisoners are human beings. When Lindsey Lohan or someone else goes to jail, they still get treated like celebrities. People make mistakes, we are all humans. The guy got justice, and clearly loves golf. Plenty of inmates with special abilities perform a number of tasks.

I guarantee if this guy was going around jail shanking people, he wouldn't be out on that golf course.

Sounds to me like a demotion is in order here. Got to nip that monkey business in the bud. Give that job to someone with some scruples.

An innocent man that goes to jail for 17 years and then released gets less coverage and concern from the media. A man that is wrongfully executed also gets less coverage from the media.

Does it matter? The captain showed he is the boss and needed some golfing tips.

  14. Accuracy Counts

It was a Captain the LA Sheriff's Dept that allegedly committed this offense. Why then does CNN put a picture of Sheriff Lee Baca on their icon for the article as well as at the beginning of the video? Do you have some sort of vested interest in making it appear that it is he who committed some sort of misconduct??

Prison is about corrections which means just that. It's not about punishment. There is nothing wrong with taking a guy out to golf. He is a human too.

This is absolutely unbelievable. Words can't even begin to explain the stupidity of this decision. This sheriff needs to resign and try and find him a job as a golf professional. Clearly he doesn't understand his law enforcement responsibilities.

Brilliant!!! I think this captain might have accidentally created an idea!!! Allow prisoners to get involved in activities or careers that they might be interested in when they get out. In prison rehab by stimulating their interest while briefly on the outside!!!!
