Steve Perry – most of the time I listen to your comments and say that those are great ideas. Today you are way off the target on this one. Let's not extend the school day by more hours, my 5th grade daughter already will get in bed at 10pm tonight. She only has 2 extracurricular activites (Drama Club at school & Martial Arts training afterward) How about extending the school year to all-year-long! This idea is not well received by most educators. We no longer live in a completely agricultural based society. Most kids do not have to assist with harvesting crops or getting livestock to market. So why the need to have 3 months off in the summer?
Again, extending the school day by more hours isn not the answer. Extending the school year, by 2 or so months is!
Nice one, John. Dave Brubeck's Take Five.
I really take exception to the academic who described most of what's posted on Twitter as "rubbish".
He may not find it relevant to his experience, or understand why it's important to them to them to tweet it, or even understand what's being said (I know that the proliferation of "text-speak" makes it difficult for me understand what's being said on social media sites from time to time).
But each "rubbish" tweet is something important enough to someone to post. Collectively, they're the stuff of peoples' lives.
What right does he have to declare this "rubbish"?
