'Magic' Johnson on launching ASPiRE, a TV network focused on positive achievements in African-American community

Now he's going to become a media mogul.

Johnson is launching a new television network today called ASPiRE, and it highlights the positive achievements of the African-American community. The programming will feature movies, music, comedy shows aimed at an audience that may be yearning for family friendly content.

"Magic" talks with Soledad on "Starting Point" about the new network.

Magic also shares some wisdom for Anthony Davis, the anticipated #1 NBA draft pick this year. See what he has to say in the clip below.

Well, I have been watching off and on since the start. What I thought would be at least good is far from it. There is nothing new here, in fact there is something very old. The shows are not inspiring. So far all they just have flip wilson, a very old bill cosby show, julia and i spy. They all seem to be from the 60's. Root 100 is pretty good, but many of what they have is still old. I am looking online for some news of newer programs but there is NO news online of any kind for Aspire. I really want this to work, but it is frustrating.

I believe Magic Johnson is onto something amaazing with his channel Aspire, it's about high time someone came to the for front and created a channel for Afro Americans that will not only cause others to aspire, yet all to be inspired by quality tv. Movies, comedy, music, art and whatever else Magic Johnson whom is a class act himself, deems fit to put on his own channel. There is Tv One, Own,B.E.T and Centric Channel, and very soon "Aspire". I commend Magic Johnson for his motovation and productivity. I can't wait until his channel airs,I certainly will be watching, and hope his channel is a sweet success!

Hi Tia have you been watching Aspire? I am curious if you have the same view as me. I was excited about the channel. I am a big magic johnson fan. I don't know him from basketball since I was 1 when he had to quit. But he has done a lot since. However, the channel is not happening. Same old shows.
