Why, in the name of all that is decent is this even an issue? People are getting hung up on whether or not the documents were forgred/ are invalid, and not one single person has yet to ask (that I have heard anyway), let alone answer the more pressing question. Without having these documents shown, examined, and thoroughly verified, how in the hell did the man get nominated, let alone allowed to take public office at any level of government? Someone, answer that please.

Wow. They followed this story until someone proves it to be a fraudulent document then it's "OK we're just so tired of being jornalists". CNN can't handle the truth. Why? Why does CNN back the wrong? Definitely not journalism!

Arpaio is a joke. A publicity hound. Any reporter that thinks anything he says is newsworthy
needs to find another line of work.

At the press conference the Cold Case Posse claimed that handwritten codes on the President's Birth Certificate showed that it was a forgery. Except they used the wrong coding intructions. They used the instructions from 1968, not 1961. There is some evidence this was deliberate.

Also at the press conference, the CCP claimed that the certification number on the President's BC showed that he could not have been born at Kapiolani. However, they ignored other Hawaiian BCs from people born at Kapiolani Hospital in August, 1961 (including Stig Waidelich who was interviewed by CNN). These other Hawaiian BCs showed that the CCPs thery on the certificate numbers is also wrong. And there is some evidence this this mistake was also deliberate.

And when you add in the misinformation about the President's Selective Service Registration, it is hard to imagine how these guys can even call themselves investigators.

Where to start? Ok, First, during the press conference the Cold Case Posse (CCP) showe a video they said proved fraud based on codes written onthe President's Birth Certificate. Only problem, the CCP was using the wrong manual (1968 manual instead of 1961 manual) to decipher the codes. There is evidence they were aware of the mistake and didn't correct it.

Second, at another point in the press conference, the CCP said that the certification number on the President's BC proved he was not born at Kapiolani hospital. But to prove this point, the CCP had to ignore other BCs from people born in August, 1961 (inculding Stig Waidelich who was interviewed by CNN), those BCs prove the President's BC is legitimate.

Add in the mistakes made by the CCP in it's March 1st press conference (selective service regisration) and one can only conclude that either the CCP is a modern day version of the keystone kops or they have a political agenda.
    Add those

Is there really only one comment or is there a backlog of comments in a , "Your comment is awaiting moderation" status? Hard to believe there isn't more feedback on this... history will look back at this ongoing story as one of the biggest of our time. As Alec Baldwin would say, "This is interesting..."

This is the problem with the liberal media. It used to be that the media was neutral, and the only politics you'd ever see were on the editorial page (where they belong). Now, the media, for the most part, has swung sharply left, and isn't afraid to show their true colors (nor are they ashamed of being biased). This is why you'll see no serious discussion of anything that takes their golden child in the White House down a notch, but will gladly ridicule anyone who tries to question him in any way.

Thus the title of the page: GET REAL! Soledad O'Brien, you should be ashamed to call yourself a reporter!

Despite the state of our government there is know way they would over look regulations to let one man become the president. Mr. Arpaio should be handling problems within his own jurisdiction end of story. He is not changing our country by addressing the governments surveillance of president. He is changing its history by being the man who was investigated for racial profiling and then accused our African american president have having a falsified birth certificate. Get real got it right.

Don't let an ever-increasing pile of facts get in the way of what you want to believe! When did they stop teaching critical thinking skills in school? People see right through this type of hypocrisy... the only way CNN will survive is if it becomes publicly funded like PBS. As long as it's "your guy" in the White House, the end justifies the means, I guess. This video clip represents the lowest form of journalism or talk show etiquette that I have ever seen. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I haven't read through all the evidence yet, so I can't discuss the validity of Arpaio's claim. I'm just wondering why he's investigating something in Hawaii, when his jurisdiction is Maricopa County? Why should I, as a Maricopa County resident and taxpayer, foot the bill for this when it's not in his jurisdiction?

Okay. If Mr. Arpaio has convincing evidence that the birth certificate is a forgery, why is he holding a press conference? This should be turned over immediately to the FBI, Homeland Security or Congress (not sure who has jurisdiction to bring charges). Why is he sitting on this?

Your kidding, right? I didn't sense any sarcasm so I just wanted to make sure. The FBI Director and the Director of Homeland Security are politcal appointees. And when is the last time that Congress did anything that didn't keep them on the side of being popular? Our Attorney General wouldn't even prosecute Black Panthers who failed to show up for a scheduled court appearance for a voter booth intimidation charge... by definition they were guilty by not showing up. So your saying that these charges should be brought to one if these people? A free press is one of the most important and most powerful institutions... hence the freedom of speech and freedom of the press privileges that we enjoy as Americans.

I think it's a disgrace that news journalists would rip up the evidence of a fraudulant birth certificate. That isn't the only document of Obama's that is questionable. It is very important that we allow full discussion of this matter to get down to the truth. This should not be dismissed so lightly.

I agree completely. It's sad to see how blind and ignorant the media is. The "Get Real" show anchors are all laughing and ripping up the papers and saying that they heard enough of the "birther issue" and yet none of this would have been an issue if the documents would have been provided initially when asked for. There are many more documents still sealed for some reason such as college transcripts... that will most likely show that he collected foreign aid. Just Goolge Barry Soetoro and see for yourself who our president is.

The media is ignoring it because he has no evidence...time after time these things are proven false. Contemporary newspapers even reported about Obama's birth – why would he go so far to cover this up? Besides, they aren't "ripping up the evidence" – they've given this quite a bit of coverage.

It was not dismissed lightly, it has been thoroughly and completely debunked over the years and anyone still trying to claim that it was a forgery is rightly dismissed as either a loon or someone who is desperate for attention. In either case, they have somehow completely missed all of the arguments that the 'birthers' have get completely shot down. These people are rehashing the same arguments that any sane person legitimately weighing the evidence (instead of only looking for facts to support their bias) have already been able to dismiss as ludicrous once logic and reason are applied to the evidence at hand. This will not get many comments because frankly, the vast majority of us, including those in the republican party (who would obviously use this as ammunition if it was even remotely legit) just don't take birthers seriously at all any more, you've already been proven wrong and just refuse to accept it. You people are a punchline at this point, let..it..go.

If the wealth of circumstantial info on this topic (which is publicly available) were carted into a courtroom in a wheelbarrow, any average citizen would be convicted of fraud in about 5 minutes. Our President should be held to the highest, not the lowest, standard. Nixon was run out of office because of a small-time break-in coverup... we're talking about outright fraud with lots of evidence gathered by credible law enforcement officials. The only reason it has been considered "debunked" by some is because the case has only been tried in the court of the "mainstream media"... any attempts at a real court appearance have been blocked by administration-friendly beauracrats and spineless judges. Let it go to court and let the chips fall where they may.

      Well said Lucy!
I'm sick and tired of idiots like CNN pretending that this issue is no big deal!
This is a SERIOUS national security problem. The fact that this was overlooked shows that the corruption in our government needs to be cleansed.
I cant believe people are not in the streets demanding his removal.
