Ret. FBI Agent says Holmes' actions took a lot of planning and were 'not done overnight'

Ret. FBI Agent Ray Lopez weighs in on the sophisticated homemade explosives found in James Holmes' apartment.

Lopex says, "This would be one of the first times I think we've ever seen...we can describe as a house bomb in the United States. Some of these things do exist overseas. We've seen them in places like Iraq and Afghanistan."

The explosive expert who once lead an FBI Hazardous Device Response Unit went on to say this is the first booby-trapped apartment in the United States he could recall that was "set to blow up the home."

Lopez also weighed in on Holmes' mental health, saying the suspect's decisions were not made "haphazardly". The Ret. FBI agent went on to say Holmes' actions took a lot of planning and were "not done overnight."
