Singer Adam Lambert will host 2012 "VH1 Divas" show; says no divas on this show: 'everybody’s really getting along'

Sunday, Vh1 will return with its annual live divas show. Powerhouse “Divas” like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj have taken the stage together in past shows. This year’s lineup includes Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Jordin Sparks. Dedicated to dance music, the 2012 VH1 Divas show will be hosted by best selling singer and 2009 runner up for American Idol Adam Lambert. Lambert joins Soledad O’Brien in the studio.

With many young singers performing this year, Lambert says he feels like the big brother of the group. “I’m not working with any divas,” Lambert says. “Everybody seems like they’re on a team. And everybody’s really getting along.”

He gives a preview of the show, which will include tributes to two of music’s greatest divas who passed away this year. “We’re honoring Donna Summer and Whitney Houston,” Lambert says. “They are icons both in the music industry and especially dance music.”

Great interview with Adam Lambert! He must be an interviewers dream considering how well spoken, charismatic, and down to earth he is in addition to the obvious "eye candy" factor. Despite his unique looks he still appears like the guy next door to me which probably makes it easy to forget sometimes what an exquisite singer and electrifying entertainer he is!

Wow, the standard for what VH-1 considers a Diva has dropped drastically. I remember when they would have Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, etc. Demi Lovato? I still don't even know who that is.

Funny how we glorify people who rise to the top on their talent, have the world 'by the cajons' and resort to this inglorious termination of life's greatest gift – life itself. So sad.

Also kind of disheartening that this insanely talented and very nice man who performed with Queen before millions (all shows), 500 MILLION on The Voice of China finale (no other western artist was invited) and 2.3 BILLION on the MNet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong- Yes I said 2.3 BILLION (live and streamed) and yet nothing is mentioned on U.S. media.

Adam Lambert! I love him! Undoubtedly THE best male vocalist of the last 50 years and probably the next 50. Can't imagine we'll see anything like him again soon. I'm still resentful he got screwed on American Idol. Oh, well, success is the best revenge. The other guy who won faded away never to be heard from again and Adam's career is thriving. Talent wins every time.

Great appearance... The room seemed to "light-up" when he came on:-) I will be watching the VH1 Diva's show!

Soledad: I would love to see Adam on your show sometime talking about deeper subjects too. Many people around the world look up to him as a role model and person of good-will. He is opening hearts and minds one country at a time. The USA is a hard nut to crack, but it is happening slowly but surely:-)

He is a really great interview, intelligent, whitty, well spoken and easy on the eyes. Thanks for having him on...

I loved seeing Adam Lambert on "Starting Point". He did a great job of promoting VH1 Divas Live and he looked gorgeous while doing it. If anyone exemplifies how NOT to be a hard-to-get-along-with-diva, it's Adam. Anyone who has ever worked with him talks about having a great experience and how nice he is. I can't wait to see him host VH1 Divas Live. The show sounds like it will be amazing.
