Marathon bombing suspect's friend: 'No evidence' that Tsarnaev would commit such violent acts

Police are searching for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing this morning, identified by Boston police as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, age 19.

The ongoing manhunt follows a violent night, during which Dzhokhar's older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a firefight with authorities in which the men allegedly hurled explosives at pursuers after killing a university police officer, robbing a convenience store and hijacking a car.

According to a source briefed on the investigation, the suspects are originally from the Russian Caucasus and had moved to Kazakhstan at a young age before coming to the United States several years ago.

Eric Machado went to high school with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspect who is still on the loose. Machado tells John Berman and Jake Tapper on Starting Point this morning that Dzhokhar "wasn't malicious," saying that there was "no evidence" that would lead him to believe that the 19-year-old would be capable of such violence.

When asked what he would tell Dzhokhar if he could speak with him, Machado responds, "Don’t do anything stupid. Turn yourself in if you’re out there. It’s not really worth it at this point. They’re scouring everywhere. I hope he takes into consideration the families that were hurt by this and considers his actions at this point because it’s terrible to see this tragedy that everybody’s been faced with the past couple days."
