Long distance swimmer Diana Nyad is making a fourth attempt at swimming the historic crossing from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida. As of Sunday evening, the 62-year-old had completed nearly 28 miles according to her blog. The trip, which is expected to take Nyad 60 hours to complete, covers a total of 103 miles from Cuba to Key West, Florida.
This morning on “Starting Point” Mark Sollinger, the operational director of Team Nyad gave a live update on Nyad’s status and condition. Sollinger says Nyad is doing well but has “experienced a lot of jellyfish... experienced several stings...but she did the Diana Nyad thing and powered through it.”
