New polls show Obama leading in several key battleground states

President Obama is leading Republican nominee Mitt Romney in the key battleground states of Florida, Ohio and Virginia, according to new NBC News/Wall Street Journal polls.

Among likely voters, Obama is ahead of Romney by five points in both Florida and Virginia, beating the former Massachusetts governor 49% to 44%. The president's lead is even larger in Ohio, where he is ahead of Romney 50% to 43%.

CNN's chief political correspondent Candy Crowley joins Starting Point today to break down these numbers and to explain how the Romney campaign can gain back ground at the upcoming presidential debates.
