Sen. McCain: Veterans angry over handling of Benghazi, could sway election

On "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien" this morning, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) says veterans who are angry over handling of U.S. Consulate attack in Benghazi could sway the election.

"I've been travelling all over the country," Sen. McCain says. "Veterans are angry. They're angry, they're upset. They don't trust Barack Obama. There's 1.6 million of them in Florida, for example. I think they could have an impact on this election. I know it's all about jobs and the economy, but I have never seen veterans as upset and angry as they are over Benghazi.

McCain, while you're straining at gnats, you're swallowing camels.

The biggest untold scandal is the one involving you, Big Oil, Fox News and the rest of the Republicans. By fighting Global Warming, you are exposing millions of Americans to the risks associated with Global Warming. Some people choose not to take it seriously, because your buddies at Fox News tell them it's all a hoax. Meanwhile, many of those same people aren't taking the threats of climate change to heart and some of them are no longer with us.

When will the Republicans quit protecting Big Oil and support the preparations and actions necessary to defend our citizens against massive super-storms?

Wake up John ! We need to appoint a Congressional Committee to explore your malfeasance and complicity in this treasonous, massive cover-up and efforts at thwarting the sobering truth about Climate Change . . .

Evensteven, you are a moronic muppet, you have no idea and no facts, hard facts on climate changes. you and your treehuggers friends should get a life, a job, a family and start paying your bills like everyone else, and whilst you are at it go and serve your country for a couple of years too instead of leaching off our back you pathetic worm

That's right Soledad, Benghazi has "left the narrative" because lapdogs like you and your racist crony Roland Martin refuse to talk about and ask difficult questions of this administration.

According to several news reports, including The New York Times, anonymous intelligence officials said that a rescue party of CIA officers was deployed from a secret base within Benghazi and that the agency later sent reinforcements from Tripoli to battle the attack on the mission, which ultimately killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens.

Approximately half-a-dozen officers raced from a base from a mile away and arrived at the mission in about 25 minutes, according to The Times, and were later joined by security agents from the State Department. The officers led a search for Stevens, but his body had apparently already been taken to a local hospital. The group evacuated personnel to the CIA base, or what has been commonly referred to as the "annex."

Four hours passed, and an unarmed drone passed overhead taking what The Times describes as “reassuring” photos indicating that the worst was apparently over. But around dawn, shortly following the arrival of a group of CIA reinforcements from Tripoli, a new mortar attack was launched, which killed two CIA officers.

Also on Thursday, Foreign Policy magazine reported that troubling documents found in the mission following the attack seemed to suggest that a member of the local police had been conducting surveillance of the compound in the hours leading up to the attack.

An unsigned draft letter, addressed to the head of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reads, in part: “one of our diligent guards made a troubling report. Near our main gate, a member of the police force was seen in the upper level of a building across from our compound. It is reported that this person was photographing the inside of the U.S. special mission and furthermore that this person was part of the police unit sent to protect the mission.”

McCain just wants more people to be like him. How many tens of thousands of our children must come back from Iraq and AfgStan mentally and physically broken before he/we realize these wars are killing US.

Nicely done McCain. You could tell he's had it with the spin over this. One guy tried to deflect it all back to the economy instead of addressing the issue and the other tried to spin it and make it about the veterans jobs bill of which there have been many again ignoring the substance of what was said. McCain's response was perfect, he'd already told them what veterans were angry about and was annoyed at these attempts to deflect it and he made that clear.

I'm still angry at McCain for burning up his aircraft carrier and killing 166 crewmen when he "wet started" his fighter during the war in Vietnam.

"In conclusion, last week’s entire controversy was spectacularly, embarrassingly wrong-headed. No facts exist to justify the overheated rhetoric and allegations directed at Obama and top officials in his administration, but no apologies will follow either. Quite the contrary, I’m sure."

I have no idea if this is the truth or political posturing. When the republicans voted against the Veterans jobs bill they lost any and all credibility to me. How can this event be the deciding event in this election? It really makes no sense to me so I have a feeling that Senator McCain is using the veterans to make a political point, shame on him. I do respect his service to this country while in the military and at one time respected his service in congress. The respect going forward stopped at Sarah Palin nomination to be the V.P. of this country. If the tragic death of 4 Americans in Benghazi defines this election for anyone I challenge them to tell me how the tragic death of 3,000 Americans defined the last Bush run for the presidency.

Don't remember Sen McCain asking me if I'm upset – and I'm a veteran. Please the military understand about terrorism and how much we can control. I support the President and he get my vote this election too!!!!!

John McCain is a bitter old man who is politicizing all of this because he and that Palin bimbo lost to Obama. His rhetoric is treason towards the office of the president. So why doesn't he consult with Condoleeza Rice before he sputters this and his tapioca all over the place? Oh yeah and he is a hawkish war monger too boot.
The only good days John has left are those that include a good bowel movement.

Where was Mccain's outrage after 11 US embassies were attacked under W's watch? Mccain has become the very thing he used to dispise, a psuedo-patriotic partisan hack.

It seems every presidential primary there are a field of conservative candidates all comparing themselves to President Reagan. Yet I can remember when over 200 Marines were killed in Beirut during Saint Reagan's watch because the guards at the gate weren't allowed to have real bullets in their guns.
