The Honorable Greg Walden: I, along with the entire platform of the NRA, agree that we don't want guns in the hands of the criminally insane. But we already have laws to prohibit that. What is needed is enforcement of existing laws. But in addition to agreeing with you, my main reason for writing is to respond to Obama's recent comments to congress in which he states, "Shame on us if we forget Newtown". I want to tell him, Shame on YOU for using a national tragedy for political and personal gain! It is my understanding the gun used in that horrific massacre was actually STOLEN from the assailant's mother, who also happened to be his first victim. Why is it that liberals who would gut the Constitution cannot understand THERE ARE ALREADY LAWS PROHIBITING STEALING OF GUNS AND MURDER? What possible convoluted logic do they use that would lead them to believe imposing additional restrictions on me could possibly prevent a person who already violates the law from stealing a gun to use for a crime? Even if every gun in private ownership was confiscated by a squadron of government jack-booted thugs, THEIVES will just steal guns from the police or military installations. These liberals cannot possibly be so ignorant as to believe THOSE guns would somehow be exempt from being stolen, can they?

I realize you are quite aware of all this, and you are intelligent enough to respect the sanctity of the Second Amendment. I appreciate your willingness to stand for what is right, and not join the band of clanging cymbals around the country who would exploit for political gain the senseless murder of nearly 2 dozen young children. For perhaps the first time in my life, I am actually looking forward to the next election; there are many governors, congressional representatives, senators, and presidential cabinet appointees who should and will be soundly run out of office.

Thank you for providing your constituents with this opportunity to air our concerns to you directly.
