John's Robison's best-selling memoir, "Look Me In The Eye," exposed to the world what it's like to live with Asperger's syndrome.
Now Robison is out with a new memoir, "Raising Cubby," where he tells the story of challenges and rewards of raising his son, who also has Asperger's. Asperger's is an autism spectrum disorder. Not only does April mark Autism awareness month, but yesterday marked the sixth annual Autism Awareness day.
This morning on "Starting Point," Robison talks about the new book and shares his best advice for parents raising children who are on the autism spectrum.
The syndrome is named after the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, studied and described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy.'**.
