‘End It Movement’ advocate Nick Cannon on seven non-profits’ global campaign to end slavery

More than 27 million people are enslaved around the world according to the "End It Movement," a global campaign to end slavery. This Tuesday, the group is hoping to "Shine a Light on Slavery" and get people to take a stand by organizing local events. Actor and host of "America's Got Talent" Nick Cannon is leading the way. This morning Cannon joins “Starting Point” to discuss the 7 non-profits joining together and their plans to expose the problem.

The reason you do not hear more about global slavery is because “it’s one of those things where people think it’s like a passé thing,” says Cannon. He adds “we have so much forward movement in our society but when you think about the world altogether … human trafficking and slavery is something that is extremely current.”

Cannon, a father of two says having children not only “changes your perspective on life” but makes you “want to be a fine example [and] try to leave this place a little better than when we got here.”

April 9, 2013 has been declared by End It Movement as global "Shine a Light on Slavery" day and they are asking those looking to participate to put a red x on their hand to represent the 27 million people enslaved around the world.
