Ex-CIA employee Edward Snowden, the man who revealed himself as the individual who leaked classified information about U.S. government surveillance programs, is hiding out in Hong Kong and hoping to seek asylum in Iceland.
New York Republican Congressman Peter King, Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterintelligence and Terrorism says Snowden "is dangerous to the country" and "should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law" for the leak.
"I consider him right now to be a defector," King says.
Congressman King is grossly confused. It is the people who support government intrusion into the lives of American citizens who are dangerous to our country. The recent scandal regarding the IRS targeting American citizens is a perfect example. Does King think that employess of the NSA are any more reliable that those of the IRS? Surely he is not that naive.
Now I know I can no longer trust Republicans with Kings statements about punishment for Snowden. According to the Patriot Act and what it allowed originally did NOT include spying on the American people! and that is what the government is doing. Also Snowden did not give away any damaging information, the terrorist knew what we were doing much before the American people. Damn this government of ours from top to bottom.
Who hired Snowden? how did he get access by being a regular Joe? This tells me anybody who works for this ridiculous government can take our records and make them public.
A man lets the public know just how far the government has gone into surveillance of their lives. Now he thinks it necessary to leave the country. A politician calls him "a defector". DEFECTOR!! Are you out of your f-ing mind, Mr. King?!! Where do you think you are, COLD WAR SOVIET UNION!!?!
