Fmr. Jackson family attorney Debra Opri says new 'testimony is going to be fantastic for the Jackson family'

AEG has long contended that they did not hire Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician convicted of administering the lethal dose of the anesthetic to Jackson. Instead, AEG has maintained that it was the king of pop that hired Murray. but in an e-mail the Jackson family attorneys are calling the smoking gun Co-CEO of AEG Live Paul Gongaware, allegedly pressured Murray into having Jackson ready for rehearsals despite his ailing health.

CNN has exclusively obtained Gongaware's videotaped deposition that was shown to the jury. Fmr. Jackson family attorney Debra Opri weighs in on his deposition on “Starting Point” this morning.

She considers this testimony fantastic for the Jackson family’s case. “In my opinion, he made a fool of himself and I think this was the sealing piece of testimony for the Jackson family who I've said from day one are going to win big in this case.”

FROM CNN WIRES:

Los Angeles (CNN) - AEG Live's lawyer warned jurors that "we're going to show some ugly stuff" as he began the defense's opening statement in the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial Monday.

The concert promoter has no choice to reveal Jackson's "deepest, darkest secret" because the company must defend itself from the accusation from Jackson's family that it is responsible for the pop icon's death, Marvin Putnam said.

And so begins a trial, which could last several months, that promises dramatic revelations and legal fireworks. With opening statements delivered, the Jackson's call their first witness Tuesday morning - Orlando Martinez, the Los Angeles Police detective who investigated Jackson's death.

This morning on "Starting Point," Tom Mesereau, former atty for Michael Jackson, explains why he thinks AEG's arguments in wrongful death case could backfire.
